How should you equip yourself for your first steps in surf therapy?
As a general rule, equipment (wetsuit, surfboard) is provided on site when you are introduced to surfing. It's best to check with the host organisation with whom you'll be doing your first session.
How can surfing be adapted to suit everyone?
Adapted boards (large, stable, sometimes equipped with handles or seats), special coaching (qualified instructors), accessible beaches with equipment such as tiralos, access ramps and adapted changing rooms, make surfing even more accessible to everyone. Surfing can also be adapted to suit everyone, with a personalised approach: lying down, in tandem, with assistance getting into the water or independently, depending on ability.

What is DemocraSea?
Democrasea is a project initiated by Mellow Sea and supported by the Région Nouvelle Aquitaine, whose mission is to make aquatic activities more accessible to everyone, including people with special needs (convalescence, disability, fragile mental health, pregnancy...). Because everyone should be able to enjoy the benefits of the ocean.
