Mellow Sea Upcycling

Proposing solutions
At a time when the planet is running out of steam and mankind consumes all the Earth's natural resources in 6 months, Mellow Sea has chosen to give a second life to existing materials through its upcycling program.
The aim? To stop producing unreasonably, and instead reuse available resources that are not being used.
Upcycling and recycling: two different concepts.
Recycling is the destruction of products or materials to recover a reusable raw material.
Upcycling gives new life to old products or materials. The object's former function is still identifiable.

Collection
We collect beach towels and bath towels from surf and beach clubs, as well as from the Catholic Relief Service and the Secours Populaire.

Washing
Towels must comply with hygiene standards. They are therefore sent to a local laundry that promotes CSR values.

Design
This is the same workshop that uses our patterns to design and create the patchworks.

Manufacturing
The patchworks are assembled into ponchos, car seat covers, beach bags, and more. The final offcuts are used to make pouches, nothing goes to waste.

Sale
You can find our products at our retailers and partner sites. If you have taken part in our various collections, we will offer you a 15% discount on the purchase of upcycled products.

Our approach
Upcycling is our way of significantly reducing our carbon footprint, as it requires no new material production. It’s a cause we deeply care about and one we aim to make more accessible and widespread. That’s why we collaborate with local partners who share our commitment to both environmental and social responsibility.

The future of the Mellow Sea upcycling program
- We're expanding our recycling efforts to include other materials like paraglider fabric, neoprene, wool, and more.
- We aim to strengthen our upcycling initiative through a fully circular approach. To achieve this, we are building partnerships with organizations involved in both waste collection and the redistribution of recycled goods.
