Some people call me Vico! And I'm 25 (from 99 hehe).
Sports practised
After having tried a bit of everything when I was young, I discovered the world of boardsports and took up skateboarding. I didn't stop for 6-7 years, then I tried out a bit of every board sport: skiing, snowboarding, bodyboarding, wind surfing, wakeboarding... And then I discovered surfing and I transferred all my passion for skateboarding to surfing and its culture.
Year of commencement of practice
I started surfing in 2019 (about 4 years of real practice).
What is your relationship with photography and video?
For me, video is a way of conveying emotions and messages while telling a story. The right angle of view, the right light, the right colours or even the right music added to the editing. All these elements help to evoke emotions in the audience. Photography is much the same. The difference lies in freezing a moment. So, for me, the role of photography is more to convey memories frozen in time. Moments, events that you don't want to forget or that you want to share.
What do the ocean and your water activities bring you?
Since moving close to the ocean, I can't live without it. Just seeing the ocean soothes me deeply. I spend a lot of time there and I get in the water whenever I can. Whether it's surfing, swimming or water photography. It's an element in which I feel really at home. I think at the moment it's the environment in which I feel best.
Who inspires you, both behind the camera and in the water?
Over the last few years I've discovered a number of talented photographers, and I'm discovering more every day on social networks! Kane Brown, Morgan Maassen, Ben Thouard, Tim McKenna and Marcus Paladino.
What do you do when you're not shooting or in the water?
I work as a freelance videographer, photographer and creative director for various clients. I edit and spend time with my friends on the Basque-Landes coast.
Photo or video?
I prefer video because I think it conveys more emotion than photography.
