1. The great beach of Hendaye

Protected by Cap Figuier and Pointe Sainte Anne, Hendaye has the reputation of having the calmest beaches on the Basque Coast. Its beaches have shallow waters. They are easy to swim in, even with small children. There is also a children's club.

Considered a "green slope" for learning to surf, it also has the "Handiplage" label, making it easier for people with reduced mobility to swim.
2. Illbaritz in bidart
At the foot of the Ilbarritz manor house, this beach in Bidart is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful on the coast. This beautiful beach of fine sand attracts surfers as well as families, who can swim in complete safety. In the heart of a protected natural setting, you'll love Ilbarritz beach.

3. Biarritz's Grande Plage
In the heart of Biarritz city centre, the Grande Plage is the best-known beach in the Basque Country. Bordered by a promenade with a casino, bar terraces and the Hôtel du Palais de Biarritz, the Grande Plage attracts many tourists. Despite its location, this beach retains all its charm and a certain authenticity, with a magnificent natural setting.

4. Lafitenia in Saint Jean de Luz
This sandy and pebble beach is located near the campsites in the Acotz district. This beach is a favourite spot for experienced surfers, who can take on the left-hand rock wave a little way offshore. Novices abstain!

5. Socoa Beach
Socoa beach is one of the most popular beaches on the Basque Coast. It came 5th in our poll. With its fine sand, you and your family can enjoy the ocean to the full. Protected by the bay's dykes, you can swim here all year round and enjoy all kinds of seaside activities. The beach is supervised during the summer season and has Handiplage approval.

6. Port de Guéthary beach
Nestling in a pretty cove, the Port de Guéthary beach is hidden away. This tiny beach has an intimate feel to it. Its setting is both wild and village-like. It's an unusual beach with plenty of charm.

7. Les Sables d'Or in Anglet
On the edge of the town centre, safe and fully equipped, this is a family beach with a friendly atmosphere. On site, you'll find all the shops and restaurants you need, as well as a beach volleyball court, surf schools and equipment hire of all kinds: buoys, paddles, pirogues, canoes, sea fishing...

8. Uhabia beach
Very pretty and easy to get to, it's close to many shops and restaurants. It has been awarded the Handiplage label. It is also the starting point for the Voie Verte de l'Uhabia, a cycle path and footpath,

9. Cénitz in Guéthary
On this beach, which welcomes surfers and swimmers as well as hikers, you'll be as close to nature as possible. Situated in the heart of a wild area, Cénitz beach in Guéthary is made up of sand and pebbles, giving it all its authenticity. If you're looking for a quiet spot, the unusual beach of Cénitz is the ideal place.

10. Port-Vieux beach in Biarritz
A small beach at the end of a rocky cove sheltered from the wind and waves. A real natural swimming pool, very popular with families with children, it is a "No Smoking Beach".
